Timeframe
The first season is scheduled for a timeframe of eight weeks. Every week you will be put against a new opponent. You’ll have time from 0:00h UTC on Monday till 23:59h on Sunday to schedule a Bo3 series with your opponent. After the main season is over, playoffs will determine ups and downs in our divisions.
League system/keeping score
The league will follow a Swiss format known from chess, with evolving numeric seeds determined by your performance.
Who is eligible to participate?
Everyone in posession of a StarCraft II account in EU or NA with the following exceptions:
- Accounts with under 50 1v1 matches played
- „Smurf“ accounts or „sandbaggers“
- „Barcode accounts“ or otherwise obfuscated accounts
If two opponents are from different continents, the server with the least lag for both should be chosen. Changing servers after every match of the series is encouraged, to balance out latency advantages.
Skill groups
Upon joining the site you will be asked your current MMR as well as your highest ever achieved MMR (ballpark figure suffices), so that we can more or less adequately determine your skill level. Your initial placement will be determined by your 1v1 ladder MMR, though from that time on your placement in the cyostar league will remain seperate from your ladder performance. You will have the opportunity to get promoted and demoted in playoffs after the main season.
We’re aiming for three skill divisions, roughly aiming at the following MMR borders:
- Leviathan Division (MMR upwards of 4601)
- Dragon Division ( MMR between 3801 and 4600)
- Phoenix Division (MMR of 3800 and below)
Further information about Divisions can be gathered here.
Map pool and vetoes
The map pool aims to be diverse and fun, so it will also incorporate maps not in the current ladder pool. Each player has 3 vetoes which they can change once every week. Every week will have a set starting map for your Bo3, after the first match it follows „loser’s choice“. The set starting map overrules any veto.
The map pool is as follows:
- CyOSL Purity and Industry
- CyOSL Golden Wall
- CyOSL Ever Dream
- CyOSL Winter’s Gate
- CyOSL Frost
- CyOSL Shakuras Plateau (cross spawns enforced)
- CyOSL Catalyst
- CyOSL iCCup Testbug
- CyOSL Paradise Lost
Playing on the CyOSL version of the maps is mandatory.
More information concerning the maps is provided in this post here.
Broadcast
I will try to livestream every scheduled match as a caster on my channel. If I’m unavailable, I will gather the replays and replay cast the matches. Your play WILL be cast!
My dream is, that I will never cast alone and always have rotating guest casters by my side to keep it fresh and fun.
If you are interested in joining me for casting a series or two, you can contact me via cast@cyostar.com!
Every participating player is also allowed – nay, encouraged – to stream their own games on their channel as well!
Replays and Transparency
Replays of every match have to be submitted to the database. At the end of the season I will pack all the replays in an archive and give it out. There will be full transparency and not submitting replays is not allowed.
Incentive/Prize pool
There is no prize pool set up. This league is solely unprofessional and fun. During the season there will be a paypal tipjar provided. Any donations given during these eight weeks will be evenly divided by 4. The winner of every division will then get 25% of the accumulated sum. The remaining 25% will be used to buy a beer for everyone of my helpers .
Rulings/Misconduct/Exclusion from competition
The administrative team will reserve the right to exclude participants from competition if gross misconduct is observed.
If two participants do not achieve the scheduling of a match in a given week, the player who put most effort in getting it done will receive a walkover. If both participants tried equally hard, either overtime may be offered or a draw be considered. If none of them tries to get a match going, there will be no points this week for any of them.
